Why are home toilet seats different than public toilet seats?
Yes, I am asking this as a serious question. The ones people have in their home are solid all the way around & public restrooms have horseshoe shaped ones with the front part missing. I figure it has to do with some sort of health code or something, but if its a healthier to have an open section to the seat, why don’t we use them in our homes?
I welcome the funny answers as well as the serious ones, because I really do want to know, but I can appreciate a good joke.
One, those horseshoe shaped seats are cheaper and two, that section is removed to allow men to better stand at the toilet to urinate without having to lift the seat. That way there is less chance they’ll pee on that section.
So if there aren’t any urinals available and they are making due with a toilet, then they might not lift the seat to simply urinate. The reason the women’s are like that, too, is simply to make all of the seats universal. That way they don’t have to make one for one gender and another for the other.
BTW this is absolutely true as far as I know. I worked in retail for awhile and asked some representatives about this, always getting this answer.
