Are You Neglecting Your Body Strength?
We are all aware of the changes of aging when we are young. As we grow taller and gain weight it is easy to measure the physical changes. But once we are past our mid 20′s there are changes happening to our bodies that are largely unseen but they are vitally important to how healthy and well we remain as the years go by.
The most important change that is happening is the loss of muscle tissue. Every year from the mid 20′s around one half a pound is being lost unless you are taking steps to keep your strength with intentional exercise. From age 30 a decrease in thigh width may be apparent which is an indication that muscle tissue is being lost.
The health of muscles is of the utmost importance as one grows older. For starters they will keep the bones strong. As they are attached to bones when we work our muscles against a resistance they pull on the bones keeping them strong and healthy. Just like muscles bone strength is lost each year unless you take steps to keep it strong.
Our muscles support our entire skeleton to help us remain upright and move around easily. This support needs to be maintained and kept strong to keep our joints which allow our limbs to bend functioning properly and to avoid Back Pain.
Working our muscles with proper exercise also stimulates precious hormones that are the chemical messengers that give instruction to all cells, tissues and body parts.
This is where the youth enhancing aspects of Muscle Building and maintaining exercise comes in to its own stimulating ‘youth hormones’ that rebuild, renew, repair and rejuvenate your body right down at cellular level. Without these hormones chemicals continue to whisper to the cells to decay, degenerate and die.
As adults lose muscle tissue most people will feel a little weaker but for the large part the muscle loss isn’t that noticeable. This is because an increase of Body Fat hides the loss by padding out the areas which the muscle tissue has been. An increasing level of body fat is the second major physical sign of aging.
Most people can see this one as fat makes the waistband tighter and the body becomes larger and heavier so it is easily measured. It comes with a slowing of the metabolism (the body’s engine) so less fuel is burnt for energy and more is stored as body fat.
Once again it comes back to the condition of the muscles as this is where fat is burnt for energy and it is the health and strength of the muscles that determine the metabolic rate (the rate your body burns fuel). Without proper exercise the human body is like an aging engine with dwindling power and strength.
It is up to each of us to keep our body strong. There is simply not enough physical activity that works our muscular system in our modern day lives anymore. Your muscle tissue is your most precious asset yet most people do not even give it a second thought. That is until they have difficulty even getting up out of a chair.
Don’t leave it this late to look after your muscles. Give them a boost 2-3 times a week with a proper Exercise Program that contains mostly Strength Training exercise and they will reward you for all of your adult life working away like faithful servant in the background keeping strong and youthful.
