How to lift up a log?
Think of lifting a log at the log station in a fitness corner.
If the moment generated by the force exerted is equal to the moment generated by the weight of the log, can we lift the log up?
Does the moment generated has to be greater than the moment generated by the log in order to lift the log up? Or the log will be lifted up once the moments are equal?
One end of the log is fixed at a pivot point.
Chris above is correct about the need to overcome the pull of gravity, BUT as any thick necked weight lifter will tell you, a quick jerk will better overcome inertia than a prolong push. The thing is the quick jerk will also do damage to your body. Better you should create a lever with a crow bar and couple bricks than throw out your back.
