How do people handle a part time job while being a full time college student?
I am planning on taking a full course load next fall. Should I just get a part time job during the summer and quit when school starts in august? I am taking:
MUS 111 – Music Theory I – 4.00 credits
MUS 221 – History of Music I – 3.00 credits
MUS 141 – Class Piano I – 2.00 credits
MUS 249 – Band – 1.00 credit
MUS 175 – Applied Music-Brass – 1.00 credit
PED 116 – Fitness And Wellness – 2.00 credits
ENG 3 – Prep For Coll Wrt II (Developmental) – 5 units (Dont count toward GPA)
Total 13 credits
Plus I am a Music major so I don’t want working to take out of my practice time.
Well, you don’t have to necessarily quit. You can see if there’s any kind of leave you can take while in school so that you’ll have your job back for breaks. You can also see if you can have your hours cut down then so that you’re working enough to make some extra money and put gas in your car, but not so much that it gets in the way with school.
Since you’re a music major and you’re in a band class, and I assume you’ll have concerts and rehearsal to go to, and individual practices and lessons on top of that, I’d be very careful about this. Maybe you can get a job now for the summer and then see in the school year what your schedule’s going to look like when you get in class.
