Are the "calories burned" on a heart Rate Monitor Polar accurate?
I just bought my HRM after Christmas and greatly appreciated. However, I am often asked about the accuracy of the amount of calories burned. I did not really find information on the web about it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
No, they are only an estimate. The actual calories burned will vary greatly, even for 2 people of the same weight, depending on muscle mass and frequency of exercise. So, simply use the calories and use them as a Rule of thumb for comparing one workout to another to see if you burned more calories or less. Use the monitor frequency heart to maintain your Heart Rate in the target area as much as possible during your workout.
